Through
a cooperative effort between the Faculty of Education
and the School of Music, we work together with local
school districts to support excellence in music teacher
education at undergraduate and graduate levels.
The
University of Victoria offers undergraduate secondary
music teacher preparation, a summer Masters program
in conducting, musicianship, and curriculum for elementary,
secondary, and college professionals, and a Ph.D. in
Educational Studies (Music Education). Our undergraduate
students find employment quickly, attesting to a thorough
preparation. Our graduate students make important contributions
to music education through the work they complete during
their degree and beyond.
We
are truly grateful to Dr. Don Wright for his thoughtfulness,
inspiration, and enthusiasm. Through the Don Wright
Endowment Fund, music education at the University of
Victoria will flourish.
