Acquiring AUDIO

 

1. AUDIO RESOURCES
  Audio is basically organized in three different ways: voice, sound effects, and music. Audio is an extremely important mediaform in human communication and expression. Unfortunately, it has not been utilized as a constructive method of communication in most business and corporate settings. Using a digital audio editor, audio production in the workplace is very easy.
   
2. AUDIO PLAYERS
  In order to play back (or hear) audio files on your computer, you need certain player utilities. These players are free and can be easily installed from the host website:
  01 QuickTime Player 02 Windows Media Player
  03 Real Audio Player 04 Flash Player
  05 Shockwave Player    
2. AUDIO SEARCH ENGINES
  Use the following search engines when looking for specific audio on the Internet.

3. DOWNLOADING AUDIO
  It is important to be able to download audio files you find on the Internet.
 
On a PC (Windows) - XP
1. Move your cursor over the name of the audio file (linked).
2. Right-click. A window should appear.
3. Move cursor to “Save Target As”
4. Release mouse. A large window will appear. The file will be listed as the name of the file followed by the extension -.wav.” This is how you can check to see you are downloading an actual audio file.
5. Locate your Desktop folder
6. Click Save. The audio file will be downloaded to your folder.
On a Mac (Apple) - Mac OSX
1. Move your cursor over the name of the audio file (linked).
2. If you have a three button mouse, Right-click. If you have a single button mouse, hold down the CTRL key and click. A window should appear.
3. Move cursor to “Download Linked File”
4. The audio file will be downloaded to your Desktop.
5. You will have to find the audio file on the Desktop and then drag it into your folder.
 
4. VOICE - ONLINE VOICE GENERATORS - TTS SITES
  The following sites generate speech from text. Type in your text and the site reads it back in the form of audio. You can then download the results as an audio file.

5. VOICE COMMUNICATION - FREE
  This site provides access to free "telephone" software for Internet communication.
